Q: What is a Fire door and where would I need one?
A: Building regulations stipulate that fire doors are required in the home in the following circumstances:
1) In a two-storey house which has a door leading from an internal garage into the house
2) New build or renovated properties which have three or more storeys (including loft conversions) must have fire doors to every habitable room off the stairwell
Q: What is a sash key lock?
A: A sash key lock is required on a door that you would like to keep locked from anyone who does not have a key. This may be a good idea if you have tenants renting individual rooms. This is a requirement on some doors such as garage doors for insurance purposes.
Q: What is a bathroom thumb turn?
A: This is very similar to a key lock. However, in this case you will have a thumb turn permanently installed on the door in place of the key. These are most common on bathrooms and en-suits but can also be used on other doors where required.
